I have 30+ years’ experience creating positive change for the LGBTIQ community in a range of different environments and using a range of different strategies and tools. These include:
Creating LGBTIQ inclusive workplaces and services, including leading the multi-award-winning Rainbow Tick Accreditation at VincentCare – and advising numerous other organisations on how to create safety and inclusion for LGBTIQ staff, volunteers and clients.
Designing and delivering professional development training modules for staff throughout the health and human services sectors; and designing and facilitating workshops for LGBTIQ queer leaders, advocates and allies on advocacy, campaigning, and effecting social change.
Writing and publishing features articles, opinion and editorial pieces in both queer and mainstream press over 20 years; undertaking research and producing resources, and publishing chapters in anthologies, two works of non-fiction and a rainbow family children’s novel.
Leading legislative change – Rainbow Families, Marriage Equality – over a 20-year period, and conducting political lobbying and advocacy around a number of other issues affecting LGBTIQ people at both a local and national level.
Serving three terms on the Victorian State Government’s LGBTIQ Taskforce Health and Human Services Working Group and providing consultancy services and Subject Matter Expertise to a number of organisations and institutions.
Speaking publicly about all of the above.
My professional work is informed by many years of public advocacy. My strength lies in my ability to engage with groups and individuals in a respectful and non-threatening way and to take them with me on a journey of change.
