This is a great session for anyone who really doesn’t know how to get started on making their organisation more LGBTIQ+ friendly.
This type of event is an eye opener for those within and outside the community. It puts everyone on the same level and that is fundamentally what it’s all about.
Who is this workshop for?
This workshop is for any organisation, service or business that wants to improve its engagement with the LGBTQ community but needs help to get started. It’s specifically designed for those organisations thinking about how they can best implement inclusive practices, whether they want to go down the Rainbow Tick Accreditation path or not.
What’s covered in the workshop?
The workshop is designed to create understanding and support for the LGBTQ community broadly, and to lay out a pathway to delivering change in your organisation. The workshop will outline a detailed list of initiatives that can be implemented over time starting with some simple and easy initial steps and moving towards longer-term more structural change. Specifically you will:
- gain insight into LGBTQ communities in Australia today
- learn about health and well-being outcomes for those communities
- understand the concept of Minority Stress and Structural Resilience
- explore a list of possible changes you can implement
- be guided through the currently available tools that support this work
- explore some strategies for working with resistance
- develop an Inclusion Action Plan to kick-start the work in your organisation
What will I leave with?
By the end of the workshop, you will have a clear understanding of what your organisation needs to do to move towards greater inclusion for LGBTQ people. You’ll understanding more about Rainbow Tick Accreditation and the other tools available to create change. You will leave with a practical Inclusion Action Plan that you develop with your colleagues that you can implement as soon as you return to work.

A NOTE ON PSYCHOLOGICAL SAFETY
As a member of the LGBTQ community and a longstanding advocate, I understand that participants to my workshops – both queer and non-queer – come with their own personal and lived experience. While I cannot guarantee one hundred per cent psychologically safety, I am extremely mindful of the diversity of that lived experience and the challenges it brings. In all my workshops, I pay very careful attention to creating as psychologically safe an environment as possible for all participants. If you have any particular concerns, please don’t hesitate to raise them when we are discussing your workshop.
